1.50 Release Notes (HMS Captain DLC - Patreon Early Access until 6/8)

We are pleased to present the official release notes for Ship Explorer's latest DLC, the Victorian-era turret ship HMS Captain. This DLC is now available for early access to Patreon subscribers, with a full public release coming Monday, June 8th. The base game changes are available now for all players. Read on for all the details, then make sure your game is updated to the latest version to apply these changes. Happy exploring!

HMS Captain DLC:

  • HMS Captain DLC including interactive elements, achievements, explorable areas, music, and collectible artifacts

  • Player-controlled deck cannons and main gun turrets

  • Target-shooting mini game

    • Selecting the main turret or the forwardmost cannon will activate the minigame. Once complete, the level can be restarted via the Pause menu.

Base Game:

  • Target-shooting mini game

  • Overhauled and rebuilt the in-game music system

  • Added support for DLSS 4.5 and Fidelity FX 3 and 4

    • Users experiencing performance issues may wish to try toggling these settings in the Main Menu under ‘Video’ and check for improvements in performance.

  • Added sharpening controls for FSR and DLSS upscalers

  • Added unfocused audio

  • Underwater SFX and lighting improvements

  • Photo mode depth-of-field improvements

  • Fixed crash when changing graphics settings mid-level

  • Fixed DLSS/FSR Ultra Quality not rendering at the correct resolution

  • Fixed bugs with internal weather fog 

  • Fixed various collision, textures, and mesh bugs

  • Fixed piano and weather widget keybind breaking after alt-tabbing

  • Fixed bugs with player movability and clipping

  • Decreased the minimum screen radius required for lights rendering in the distance. Lights should now render further away from the player before being culled.
